1979-1990 - I owned and operated 'New England Architectural' Construction Company.
Based out of Newburyport, Mass. My business was 50% Historic Preservation work, and 50% Remodeling, Additions and New Building. I focused on Energy Conservation and Retro-Fitting 250 year old Colonial Homes with current technologies which included Insualtion Systems, Heat Exchangers, and Radiant Heating. I worked with noted Timber Framer and Author 'Ted Benson', Erecting Timber Homes for clients in New England. One of our projects in Hamilton Mass. was featured in an episode of 'This Old House.' I specialized in Fine Craftsmanship based in Traditional Woodworking Techniques. I Restored numerous Historic Timber Frame Houses, found only on the East Coast.
Other areas of Focus for New England Architectural was Energy Analysis using Infra-Red Technology. I could provide valuable information on how to improve Energy Efficiency, and analyze where Energy loss occurred, making recommendations for improvements.
Millwork - I owned and operated a Millwork Shop where we manufactured Cabinetry and Casework, Exterior Doors systems, and Moldings/Trim where we reproduced details forour Historic Preservation and Reproduction Work.
Preservation
- I consulted with and was employed by several Historical Societies, including SPNEA (Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities), and The Shirley-Eustis Foundation, based in Boston.
Superintendent - 1992-1994
A.G. Spanos Corporation- Luxury Apartment Developer. I was hired as a Superintendent of Construction with responsibilities in Site Development. This work included Underground Utilities, Public Improvements and Site Grading to set up for Street Development. As this work approached completion i was moved to the management group Constructing 600 units Built in 2 phases, each with 300 units. A.G. Spanos Corporation was the largest private developer of Luxury apartments in the United States.
Superintendent - 1994-1995
J.Wheeler Custom Millwork Company- Albuquerque, NM. - Installation Manager. Work on large scale Commercial & Hotel projects including the 'Peaks" Hotel in Telluride, Colorado, a one million dollar Interior remodel project which included The 'Lobby', 2 restaurants, a Bar, and a Country Store. The Hotel is located in the New Village, Telluride, Colorado.
Superintendent - 1995-1996
Presley Homes- A Residential Developer of Production Housing. I was based out of Albuquerque, NM, assigned to Manage and Oversee the day-to-day Operations of building up to 25 houses, at any given time. This Subdivision was located on the 'West Side' of Albuquerque. I was starting 2 houses per day, and finishing 2 houses per day. Maximum load on any given Superintendent was 25 homes, with 3 different designs and floor plans available. The houses ranged in size from 1350 square foot up to 2100.
Project Manager - 1996-1998
Dan Finch Corporation- Working for one of the original custom home builders in Phoenix, Dan Finch, I worked as a Project Manager/ Superintendent. As a Millwork specialist, i served as an Estimator for the Custom Cabinetry and Millwork Department. My Responsibilities included bidding jobs, managing schedules, monitoring budgets, and participating in Client/Owner meetings. I worked in developing project specifications for bidding purposes, and interfaced with Architects, Engineers and City Officials. We were Building Custom Homes in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley.
Project Superintendent - 1998-2001
Kitchell Contractors - In 1999 I signed on with Kitchell Corporation working on Custom Home Projects projects located in Paradise Valley and North Scottsdale. During my time with Kitchell Corporation I was assigned to the 'Lahontan' project located in Truckee, California. This is a 500 acre Golf Course Development in The Sierra Nevada Mountains, where our work included the Construction of Community Infrastructure. Built out of Heavy Timber we erected the Spa Building, the Lodge, the Pro Shop, and the Recreation Building, a 5000 square foot Timber Framed structure with 3 clay tennis courts, heated pools and walkways, and a massive field stone fireplace. We also built 2 Golf Course Out Buildings with kitchens and bathrooms.
General Contractor - Owner - Savage Fine Builders - 2001-2010
Owner and Principle Manager of a general Contracting Company since founded in 2001. In the business of Building Custom Homes and Contracting for Remodeling work including Additions and Guest Houses. I was also working in Downtown Historic Neighborhoods of Central Phoenix, re-purposing and upgrading 'Historic' properties into Current and Contemporary Houses to appeal to todays Urban Lifestyle'. I also worked in Commercial Tenant Improvements. My experience as a Self-Employed General Contractor required me to be proficient in many skills, including Estimating, Scheduling, Contract Administration, Billing/Accounting practices and Project Manager/Superintendent practices.
